From Varanasi to Edinburgh, find out where Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra was filmed.

The much-anticipated Bollywood film Brahmastra: Part One Shiva, which took over 11 years to complete and had an estimated budget of INR 410 crore, is finally available in theatres worldwide today. Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor star in Ayan Mukerji’s mythological drama for the first time, alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy. It is one of the most expensive and graphically inventive films produced in India, and it has received critical acclaim. As the film Brahmastra hits theatres, we take you to the beautiful locations and scenes where it was shot.

Locations

Varanasi

Varanasi, in Uttar Pradesh, is one of the world’s oldest towns and a haven of spiritual guidance and peace for visitors from all over the world. A 20-day itinerary was devised for the film, which included stops at Ramnagar Fort and Chet Singh Fort near Varanasi. The film’s most popular song, Kesariya, was extensively shot on the city’s ghats and winding streets.

Manali

Following the completion of the shoot in Varanasi, the Brahmastra cast and crew relocated to Manali, Himachal Pradesh. As depicted in the movie trailer, the director did an excellent job of capturing one of the most beautiful hill towns.

Bulgaria, Europe

Bulgaria, a stunning Balkan country, hosted the initial filming of Brahmastra in February and March of 2018. Significant portions of the film are set against the spectacular Bulgarian mountains. Sofia, the country’s capital, is famous for the Boyana Church and the Vrana Palace. There are several contemporary museums, galleries, urban parks, and historic cathedrals to visit here.

London, England

After finishing the shoot in Bulgaria, the crew relocated to England to begin filming other important scenes for the film. If you ever plan a trip here, you must include Big Ben, London Bridge, Westminster Abbey, and the London Eye observation wheel on your itinerary.

Edinburgh, Scotland

A significant portion of the film was shot in several breathtaking Edinburgh locations. Scotland’s capital is home to enchanting castles, lovely gardens, and a wealth of unspoiled natural beauty.

New York, USA

The crew arrived in New York at the end of July 2018 to film the remaining scenes for the film. New York City, known for its glittering skyline, is a bustling metropolis that is always brimming with diversity and energy. You must visit the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, and the Empire State Building while in New York.
