Ranveer Singh’s ’83 release date – Watch in theatres

Bollywood is back in business after the union government’s permission for cinemas to function at 100% capacity. The release dates of big movies that were put on halt are now increasing. It is being said that several movies will be released from April to June. One of them being Ranveer Singh’s ’83 that is eagerly awaited by movie and sports fans. The ’83 release date for the cinemas is said to be June 2021.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, a source stated, “Reliance along with the many other producers of the film have decided to release the sports flick in the month of June. It makes sense as the normalcy would have kicked in firmly by then.

Also, getting it in theatres before, in April, is not feasible as Sooryavanshi is releasing on April 2,” he also added, “Also, the holy month of Ramzan is expected to commence from Monday, April 12. So April is completely ruled out. The month of May will see the release of two big films – Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai and Satyameva Jayate 2.

Both the movies are expected to release during Eid, on or around May 14. A few films might also release in cinemas in the last two weeks of May. Hence, June seems like a good period.”

’83 release date was April 2020 originally.

This movie is based on India’s Cricket World Cup victory in 1983. The movie was going to show Kapil Dev’s life and how it all happened, how the victory changed things. This movie was supposed to be released in April 2020, but due to the pandemic, it was pushed. It was then shifted to December 2020, but that plan was also eventually dropped. They are yet to give a final date but it is decided to be launched sometime in June 2021.

This movie is produced by Kabir Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Deepika Padukone and Sajid Nadiadwala. Co-distributed by Reliance Entertainment, the movie stars Ranveer Singh as cricketer Kapil Dev, along with Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Jiiva, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Nishant Dahiya, Sahil Khattar and Amrita Puri.

Initially, Kapil Dev didn’t want to do the movie

Interestingly, The former Indian cricket team captain, Kapil Dev wasn’t sure about the idea of doing this movie. he said, “I was a little scared. I thought he (Singh) is an actor. You are copying somebody in sports and athleticism. Does he have that much? But, when I spent time with him, I was amazed by how much time he spent (practicing).”
